HYSTEROSCOPY
To diagnose and treat certain uterine problems,gynaecologists need to look directly into the inside of the uterus.
Common reasons for undergoing a hysteroscopy include the assessment of heavy periods, abnormal vaginal bleeding, post-menopausal bleeding, fibroids, polyps or as part of the assessment of fertility.
LAPAROSCOPIC TRANSPOSITION OF OVARIES
Ovarian transposition is a surgery that moves your ovaries out of the field of radiation. This will lower the amount of radiation your ovaries are exposed to during your radiation therapy. It may also help your ovaries keep working properly after your treatment. You will also be less likely to go into early menopause.
Your ovaries are located in the lower area of your pelvis (see Figure 1). In adults, the ovaries and fallopian tubes have to be separated from the uterus to move them far enough away (see Figure 2). In children, the ovaries and fallopian tubes can usually be moved out of the field of radiation without having to separate them from the uterus.
